The Masterplanの楽曲情報
The Masterplan（ザ・マスタープラン）は、1998年11月2日に発売されたコンピレーション・アルバム『The Masterplan』収録曲。
1995年10月30日に「Wonderwall」のB面として初めてリリースされました。
壮大なストリングスとドラマチックな展開が印象的な名曲。人生の流れを受け入れる姿勢を静かに力強く歌い上げた、オアシス屈指の代表的B面曲です。
Noel Gallagher（ノエル・ギャラガー）が作詞作曲・ボーカルを担当し、Liam Gallagher（リアム・ギャラガー）とPaul "Guigsy" McGuigan（ポール・"ギグジー"・マッギーガン）は不参加。ベースはノエル自身が演奏し、さらにオーケストラも加わっています。
ノエルは「The Masterplan」を自身の最高傑作のひとつとたびたび語っており、B面として出したことを「若くてバカだった」と後悔しています。当時レーベルのボスであるAlan McGee（アラン・マッギー）にも「B面にするには良すぎる」と言われたそうです。
2020年のインタビューでは「B面を3曲必要としていて、2曲足りなかったから急いで書いた」と回想。曲はロンドン・カムデンの自宅で書き、翌日にスタジオで披露したと語っています。
