『Master of Puppets (Deluxe Box Set / Remastered)（メタル・マスター（デラックス・ボックス・セット・リマスター））』は、1986年3月3日に独立系レーベルのメガフォース・レコードより発売されたメタリカの3枚目のスタジオ・アルバムの再発盤。デラックス・ボックスセットと一部のアナログレコードは2017年11月10日にリリースされた。デンマークのコペンハーゲンにあるスウィート・サイレンス・スタジオで、プロデューサーのフレミング・ラスムッセンと共にレコーディングされたこのアルバムは、ベーシストのクリフ・バートンが参加したバンド最後のアルバムとなった。『Master of Puppets』のツアー中、1986年9月27日、スウェーデンのドーラプでバンドのツアーバスが事故に巻き込まれ、バートンは亡くなった。デラックス版には、オリジナルアルバムのアナログレコードとCDに加え、シカゴでのライブ音源を収録したアナログレコード2枚、1985年から1987年にかけて録音されたインタビュー、ラフミックス、デモ音源、アウトテイク、ライブ音源を収録したCD9枚組、クリフ・バートンの生前最後のパフォーマンスとなった1986年9月のストックホルムでのメタリカのライブコンサートのファン録音カセット、そして1986年に録音されたインタビューとライブ音源を収録したDVD2枚組が収録されている。
OVERVIEW
アルバムのアートワークは、メタリカとピーター・メンシュがデザインし、ドン・ブラウティガムが描いたもので、血のように赤い雲がかかった空の下、墓地に白い十字架が糸で繋がれ、両手で操られている。地平線には燃えるようなオレンジ色の光が広がっている。このアルバムは、バンドにとって1時間未満の再生時間を持つ最新アルバムとなる。アルバム発売前にシングルやビデオをリリースする代わりに、メタリカはオジー・オズボーンのツアーをサポートするため、5ヶ月にわたるアメリカツアーに乗り出した。ヨーロッパ・ツアーは1986年9月のバートンの死後中止となり、バンドは新しいベーシストのオーディションのため帰国した。『Master of Puppets』はビルボード200で最高29位を記録し、批評家から広く称賛された。彼らは音楽と政治的な歌詞を称賛した。このアルバムは、史上最高かつ最も影響力のあるメタルアルバムの一つとして広く認められており、アメリカのスラッシュメタルシーンを確固たるものにした功績があるとされている。2025年には、アメリカで800万枚を出荷し、アメリカレコード協会（RIAA）から8×プラチナ認定を受け、その後、カナダ音楽協会から6×プラチナ、英国レコード産業協会（BPI）からもプラチナ認定を受けた。 2015年、『Master of Puppets』は、アメリカ議会図書館により「文化的、歴史的、または美的に重要である」として国立録音登録簿に保存対象として選ばれた初のメタル録音となった。
