The Joker And The Queenの楽曲情報
The Joker And The Queen（ザ・ジョーカー・アンド・ザ・クイーン）は、2021年10月29日に発売された4thアルバム『= (Equals)』の収録曲。
カードゲームのメタファー（比喩）を使って愛を表現した曲。Ed Sheeran（エド・シーラン）が「ジョーカー」で、彼の妻が「クイーン」として描かれ、完璧ではない自分をありのまま受け入れてくれる相手への感謝と愛情が歌われています。
「Bad Habits」を書き上げた後、エド・シーランはSam Romans（サム・ローマンズ）が作曲したピアノインストゥルメンタルをFred Again（フレッド・アゲイン）が聴かせるまで、その日の曲作りは終わったと考えていました。フレッド・アゲインはそれを「とても美しい」と評しましたが、曲に仕上げることはできませんでした。
その後、エド・シーランは約20分かけて様々なメタファーを書き上げ、その中には曲のタイトルや一部の歌詞も含まれていましたが、この曲があまりにも簡単に書けたと感じ、気に入らなかったようで結局仕上げられませんでした。しかし、エド・シーランの兄Matthew Sheeran（マシュー・シーラン）がストリングス曲を作曲し、エド・シーランはそれを「50年代から存在する古典的名曲」のように聴こえると称賛。完成させることができました。
オーストラリアのARIAシングルチャートで66位、カナディアン・ホット100で78位、ビルボード・グローバル200で99位に初登場でランクインしました。
