【洋楽新譜アルバム情報】最新のアルバムの中から今週の注目作をご紹介
今週はレッド・ホット・チリ・ペッパーズのベーシストとして世界的なキャリアを築いてきたフリーが初のソロ・アルバム『Honora』をリリース。
約50年にわたりロックシーンを牽引してきたFleaにとって、本作は初のソロ作品となる。本作は、50年のキャリアを経て、原点であるジャズ、小さい頃に始めたトランペットに立ち返り制作された作品で、自身の音楽的ルーツと改めて向き合った意欲作だ。
アルバムではフリー自身が全楽曲の作曲・アレンジを手がけ、トランペットとベースの両方を担当。Jeff Parker (ギター）、Anna Butters（ベース）といった現代ジャズシーンを代表するミュージシャンも参加している。さらに、スペシャルゲストとしてトム・ヨークと二ック・ケイヴ＆ザ・バッド・シーズでの活動で知られるニック・ケイヴがヴォーカルで参加し、Fleaのボーカルも収録されている。
本アルバムは6曲のオリジナル楽曲に加え、ジョージ・クリントン、ジミー・ウェブ、フランク・オーシャンらの楽曲をフリーによる解釈を加えて再構築した楽曲を含む全10曲で構成されており、ジャンルを横断した音楽性が特徴だ。
