You Give Love a Bad Name（禁じられた愛）は、1986年8月18日に発売された3rdアルバム『Slippery When Wet』に収録されているシングル。
タイトルにもなっている「You Give Love a Bad Name」というフレーズはもともと共同制作者のDesmond Child（デスモンド・チャイルド）が、Bonnie Tyler（ボニー・タイラー）のために書いた曲でボン・ジョヴィが歌うために作り直したもの。
歌詞では当時Jon Bon Jovi（ジョン・ボン・ジョヴィ）が交際していたとされる女優Diane Lane（ダイアン・レイン）との失恋が反映されていると話題となりました。
1986年11月29日付のビルボードホット100で1位を獲得し、バンド初のナンバーワンヒットとなりました。
