日本時間4月4日、ネバダ州ラスベガスのMGMグランドガーデンアリーナで行われた第64回グラミー賞授賞式。
授賞式は1月の開催を予定していましたが、新型コロナウイルスの変異型「オミクロン型」の流行を理由に延期。また会場も従来のロサンゼルスからラスベガスに移して行われました。
今年は11部門にノミネートされていたJon Batiste（ジョン・バティステ）が「Album Of The Year（最優秀アルバム賞）」を含む最多5部門を受賞。Silk Sonic（シルク・ソニック）が続く4部門を制覇。シルク・ソニックはノミネートした部門すべてで受賞する快挙となりました。
また初受賞が期待されていたBTSは残念ながら受賞とはなりませんでしたが、素晴らしいパフォーマンスで魅了しました。

主要4部門
「Record Of The Year（最優秀レコード賞）」、「Song Of The Year For（最優秀楽曲賞）」を制したのはシルク・ソニック。
ブルーノ・マーズにとっては「Uptown Funk」、「24K Magic」に続き3度目の最優秀レコード賞、最優秀楽曲賞では「That's What I Like」に続き2度目の受賞。アンダーソン・パークにとってはどちらも初受賞となりました。
そして「Album Of The Year（最優秀アルバム賞）」に輝いたのはジョン・バティステ。ジョン・バティステは初の受賞となり、「Best Music Video」などその他5部門で受賞しています。

「Best New Artist（最優秀新人賞）」に輝いたのはOlivia Rodrigo（オリヴィア・ロドリゴ）。その他「Best Pop Solo Performance」も受賞しています。

ゼレンスキー大統領がビデオメッセージで登場
授賞式にはウクライナのゼレンスキー大統領がビデオメッセージで登場。

「最も暗い時代でも、音楽には精神を高め、より明るい明日への希望を与える力があります。ウクライナの人々ほど、今少しの希望を利用できる人は誰もいません。」
「戦争では、誰が生き残り、誰が永遠の沈黙を保つかを選択することはできません」と彼は続けました。
「私たちのミュージシャンは、タキシードの代わりに防弾チョッキを着ています。彼らは病院で負傷者に向かって歌い、彼らの声が聞こえない人にも歌います。しかし、音楽はとにかく突破します。」
事前に撮影されたビデオではこれらに加え、「静寂を音楽で埋めてほしい」とメッセージ。支援を呼びかけました。この流れを受けて
ビリー・アイリッシュはテイラー・ホーキンスのTシャツで登場
3年連続でステージに上がったBillie Eilish（ビリー・アイリッシュ）は、兄のFinneas（フィアネス）と共に「Happier Than Ever」をパフォーマンス。
ビリーは先日急死したFoo Fighters（フー・ファイターズ）のドラマー、Taylor Hawkins（テイラー・ホーキンス）のTシャツを着ており、彼女なりの敬意を表しています。

今年は過去最多の7部門でノミネートされていましたが初めて受賞を逃す結果となりました。
テイラー・ホーキンスを讃える
フー・ファイターズは本来、パフォーマンスでの出演が予定されていましたが、テイラー・ホーキンスの急死によりキャンセルとなりました。
司会を務めたTrevor Noah（トレバー・ノア）は、「もちろん、彼らは、伝説的なドラマーであるテイラー・ホーキンスの悲劇的な死去のためにここにいません。私たちの考えは、テイラーの家族、彼の友人、フーファイターズの家族、そして世界中のすべてのファンに向けられています。」
テイラー・ホーキンスのキャリアを記念するビデオが続き、フー・ファイターズの曲「My Hero（マイ・ヒーロー）」も取り上げられました。
フー・ファイターズはノミネートした3部門すべてで受賞しています。
最多受賞のジョン・バティステ
ジョン・バティステは2020年の映画『ソウルフル・ワールド』の音楽担当にも抜擢されたミュージシャン。
最優秀アルバム賞を獲得した『We Are（ウィー・アー）』は2020年、ジョージ・フロイド氏とブレオナ・テイラー氏が殺害された後に起こったブラック・ライヴズ・マターや、ニューヨークで行われたデモ行進「We Are: A Peaceful Protest March With Music」を主催したことについてなどを反映させたアルバムで、高い評価を受けていました。
