現地時間3月2日に英ロンドンのO2アリーナで開催されたブリット・アワード2024。計7つのノミネートで単一アーティストが1年間に受賞した最多ノミネートの記録を更新したRAYE（レイ）が授賞式前に発表された最優秀ソングライター賞を含む6つの賞を受賞。これは過去に4つの賞を受賞しているAdele（アデル）、Harry Styles（ハリー・スタイルズ）、Blur（ブラー）を上回る数での受賞となり、歴史的な記録を作りました。

『My 21st Century Blues』が最優秀アルバム賞を受賞したとき、彼女が信じられないという表情で首を振り、口を覆う姿が見られます。その後、彼女は賞を受け取るために祖母を連れてステージに向かい、泣き崩れる様子も。レイは決して世界的な成功を掴んでいるアーティストではありませんが、少なくとも英国での地位を確立したと言えます。『My 21st Century Blues』は間違いなく歴史に残る名盤となり、「Escapism」のヒットはレイを大きく飛躍させ、「Prada」のヒットで人気を決定づけたと言っても決して大げさではありません。パフォーマーとしても出演したレイは「Ice Cream Man」、「Prada」、「Escapism」を披露。公式映像はまだYouTubeで公開されていませんが、最後のロングトーンは圧巻。
また今回のブリット・アワードでは多くの賞を女性アーティストが受賞しており、インターナショナルの3つの部門はSZA（シザ）、boygenius（ボーイジーニアス）、Miley Cyrus（マイリー・サイラス）がそれぞれ受賞しています。
